Your skin is the best indicator of how your overall health is , if your skin is dull and lifeless , you perhaps are not taking enough care of yourself by not eating right and no proper skin care regimen, coz what you eat and drink and how you lead your lifestyle shows on your skin.

Taking care of your skin depending on your skin type is essential if you want that flawless glowing skin. Eating healthy, drinking enough water coupled with a good exercise routine is all you need to have soft supple skin.

Skin Care Routine

For your skin to be free of dirt and grime and to feel fresh and glowing, a regular cleansing, toning and moisturizing is necessary.

  • Cleansing - This is the first step in your skin care routine; cleanse the face through with rose water dipped in a cotton swab or use a cleanser that suits your skin type, avoid using soap as a cleanser as this might make your face dry, milk is an excellent natural cleanser. If your skin is oily, cleanse your face 3 to 4 times. Gently cleanse with upward strokes making sure to cover the entire face and neck and corners of the nose.
  • Toning - After cleansing, the next step is toning; this restores the skin’s ph balance. Natural toners like rose water are excellent to freshen up and tone the skin. People with dry skin need to go for alcohol free toners while alcohol based astringents can be used for oily skin.
  • Moisturizing – After toning up the skin, moisturizing your skin is the final step in your skin care regime. It replenishes the skin of its lost moisture content. Choose a moisturizer depending on your skin type, dry skin needs oil based moisturizers while oily skin needs to be moisturized with oil free moisturizer and water based for normal skins.

Skin Protection

Along with a daily skin care routine, it is as important to protect your skin from harsh winters to scorching summers. Your skin tends to get dull and dry doe to the various environmental conditions that it gets subjected to.

  • Make sure you apply enough sun block while you go out as severe sun tan can lead to various skin problems and sometimes to cancer.
  • Go for occasional facials to get rid of tan, it helps clean your clogged pores, tightens the skin, makes it looking clean and fresh.
  • Cleanse your face before going to bed and apply moisturizer that suits your skin type.
  • Apply sun block with a minimum SPF of 10 - 15 minutes before you go out.
  • Skin blemishes and freckles are other skin problems that could arise if proper skin care isn’t taken. Although freckles are genetic and appear during teenage years and disappear, taking care of such skin conditions is recommended.
