Care For Oily Skin

Oily skin is prone to acne and clogged pores as it attracts dust and grime easily. People with oily skin have their sebaceous glands secreting excess oil coz of which the skin appears greasy and dull. Excess oil secretion could be because of the genetic make – up or high levels of hormonal activity. Usually teenagers complain of acne and greasy skin, although this skin conditions gets discontinued after certain years, some people have it passed on to their adulthood too , this is when additional care for oily skin is a must to attain a flawless glowing skin.

Few Oily Skin Care Tips

  • Follow a regular cleansing ritual, cleanse your face with rose water dipped in a cotton swab, tone it up with an astringent and apply moisturizer suitable for oily skin.
  • Take an ice cube and gently rub all over your face, do this as many times as you could in a day, this keeps the skin feeling fresh and closes the pores.
  • Mix lime juice in cold water and rinse face, this leaves you feeling clean and fresh.
  • Go for soaps that contain glycerin.
  • Mix a teaspoon of apple juice with lime juice and apply all over face and neck , stay for 15 minutes and wash with chilled water.
  • Use deep cleansing milk to remove dirt and grime that easily settle on oily skin, if unattended could lead to black heads and white heads.
  • Avoid foods that are oily and full of butter and cheese, this might otherwise aggravate the oil content in your skin resulting in acne.
  • Crush two grapes, mix it in with lime juice and egg white, apply over face and neck, leave for 15 – 20 minutes and rinse with slightly warm water. Grapes soften your skin, egg white helps tighten the skin while lime acts as a natural cleanse.
  • Lemon wedges could be rubbed gently on your face to control excess oil.
  • Crush mint leaves , mix it in rose water , apply over face and rinse after 10 to 15 minutes , this controls oiliness in your face.
  • Mix rose water with lemon juice and store in the refrigerator, keep dabbing this over your face whenever possible.
  • Avoid using oil based cosmetics; this will only worsen your oily skin condition.
  • Avoid using alcohol based cosmetics, stripping the skin off too much oil is not good either, it activates the oil glands only to secrete more oil.
  • Make sure to remove make-up if any before going to bed , keep your skin clean and fresh, apply an appropriate moisturizer that suits your skin type.
  • Use water based make - up, these wouldn’t clog your pores.
  • Eat plenty of fruits and vegetables; drink at least 8 glasses of water to flush toxins out of your system.
