Dandruff Hair

Dandruff is the shedding of dry dead skin of the scalp, like your skin, the scalp too replenishes itself with new skin shedding old and flaky skin, this is a normal hair condition in every individual but when the shedding is in excess it results in problems like hair fall as it makes the roots weak, scalp gets itchy and when the flakes fall on the face, acne and pimples erupt. Following a regular hair care routine, eating the right kind of food can help control dandruff, however if the problem is severe, seeking medical intervention is advised.

Causes of Dandruff

  • The arrival of adolescence can cause dandruff.
  • Imbalance in the body’s metabolic activities is another reason.
  • Excessively using harsh shampoos, hair gels, hair sprays, hair dryers, keeping the hair untidy without washing from time to time causes dandruff resulting in weakening of the roots and hair fall.
  • Use of certain drugs that don suit your body, hormonal changes.
  • Climatic fluctuations like cold weathers and dry- hot indoors.
  • Imbalance in diet , excessive stress and strain.

Few Dandruff Cure Tips

  • Mix two teaspoons of lime juice in a water and use it as your final rinse, this helps control dandruff and keeps hair healthy and shiny.
  • Mix in a cup of yoghurt with soaked and crushed fenugreek seeds, apply over scalp, leave on for a good half hour and shampoo, this is an excellent cure to treat dandruff.
  • Take Aloe- Vera pulp, apply evenly all over scalp and let stay for an hour and shampoo hair with a mild shampoo.
  • Gently massage hair and scalp with half a cup of warm olive oil mixed in with almond oil and two teaspoonfuls of lime, steam hair and wash away with a shampoo that isn’t too harsh on your hair.
  • Beat an egg mix well and apply with some lime juice all over scalp, let stay for an hour and shampoo as usual.
  • Mix half a lime with two teaspoons of vinegar and massage your scalp and shampoo.
  • Add tea tree oil to your shampoo and wash, this is another method to treat dandruff.
  • Try an anti dandruff shampoo and also know your hair type.
  • Make sure to rub your scalp well while you wash your hair.
  • Get good amount of sleep, include nutritious foods in your diet, and avoid foods that carry no nutrient valve.
  • Don’t use hats and scarves for longer periods in the sun.
  • Go for regular oil massages to increase blood circulation in the scalp, at least once a week.
  • Drink enough water and take vitamin supplements every now and then, the food you eat may not always provide essential nutrients required by your body.
  • Avoid foods that you are allergic to.
  • Clean your comb often and avoid using combs that belong to family and friends.
