Eye Makeup Tips

Whatever the shape, size and color of your eyes, eye make-up helps you define and enhance your eyes, a party or a corporate meeting, suitable eye make -up can make you look absolutely stunning and beautiful.

Few Eye Make-up Tips

Eye Shadow

This is when you can unleash your creativity and try different looks; the one thing that sure can make you stand apart from the crowd is your eye shadow. Choosing the right color, shades and type is the key.

  • First choose a concealer that matches with your skin and apply on the entire eye area beginning from the lash line to the brow line.
  • Now choose an eye shadow that suits you and evenly apply it again starting from the lash line to the brow line.
  • Go with shades like browns, beiges and plums during the day; get more creative with colors for an evening party by adding shimmer.
  • Going for mattes shades for puffy, tired eyes makes sense.
  • Opt for eye shadows that cause no creasing.

Eye Liner

Eye Liner defines and gives a prominent shape to eyes. Colors like plums, browns, blacks, charcoal blacks could be applied depending on the shape and color of your eyes. Your face could wear a dramatic look with a few strokes of the eyeliner or a simple and delicate look can be achieved with just a single line of eyeliner, use liquid and pencil eyeliners for the desired look.

  • Slightly tilt your head back keeping your eyes half open so that you could see in the mirror where you are applying the eyeliner.
  • Start drawing the eyeliner from the inner side of the eye to the outer on the upper eye lid. Make sure you do not shake your hand, maintain uniformity and be smooth on the eye if you are using a pencil liner. Repeat the same for the other eye too , let dry and check the eyeliner for both eyes.
  • For a softer look, you could leave the lower lid with no eye liner or line it up with just a single stroke starting from the outer to the inner side of the eye.
  • Before the D- day practice applying liquid liners, pencils are easier to use and less messy.
  • Slightly rub and clean with a wet cotton swab if the liquid liner smudges your eye shadow.

Mascara

Doing up your lashes with mascara is the final step in your eye make-up. Black or transparent mascara are the most commonly used, while browns, navy blues and burgundy shades also could be used if it goes well with your skin tone and hair color.

  • Shake well before applying, once you remove the wand, start applying on the upper lashes from base to tips rolling upwards, without breaks in one complete horizontal stroke with the wand looking down, ensure that the lashes are separate and look long enough.
  • Go for a second coat after the first dries up a bit.
  • Either keep the lower lashes without mascara for a more clear look or slightly brush it up with vertical strokes of the wand , hold a tissue with the other hand while you apply or powder the under eye area to avoid any smudging.
  • Gently comb the upper and lower lashes after drying up.
  • Use a tissue if the wand holds excess mascara.
  • Avoid exchanging your mascara with friends.
  • Any slight irritation, gently wash off the mascara and pat dry and apply moisturizer.
  • Add volume to the lashes before applying mascara by gently moving them with your finger in a crisscross manner.
  • Change your eye make-up and add variation in your look by experimenting with thick coats of mascara and going all clear from time to time.
